Islamophobia is a form of religious prejudice aimed at Muslims and
it is on the rise. But not everyone agrees that Islamophobia exists
- and some people think that we should be afriad of Muslims and
Islam. This book, aimed at readers age 10 and up, shares the
perspectives of those who have faced discrimination due to their
faith, and the experiences of those on the frontlines of hate crime
where Islamophobia is found - in the media, in politics and in
daily interactions. Togethr with contributors from different
sections of the Muslim community, the authors talk about their
experiences of religious discrimination and anti-Muslim hate
crimes, look at how international politics can affect ordinary
people, and discuss what can be done to make our society a safe
space for us all. Aimed at young people aged 10 and upwards. Part
of the groundbreaking and important 'And Other Big Questions'
series, which offers balanced and considered views on the big
issues we face in the world we live in today. Other titles in the
series include: Who are Refugees and Migrants? What makes people
leave their homes? What is Right and Wrong? Who decides? Where do
values come from? What is Race? Who are racists? Why does skin
colour matter? What is Mental Health? Where does it come from? What
is Politics? Why should we care?
Albert Luthuli grew up in the small KwaZulu-Natal settlement of
Groutville and became a teacher. As a young man, he was not
particularly interested in politics, but the government's
increasing cruelty towards Africans led him to take up the cause of
his people. He eventually became a national political leader and,
in 1952, was elected President of the African National Congress
(ANC). He headed an executive committee that included such great
leaders as Mandela, Tambo and Sisulu. He led many campaigns against
the apartheid system and won the love and respect of ordinary South
Africans. In 1961, Chief Luthuli became known around the world as
the first South African to win the Nobel Peace Prize for his
devotion to achieving freedom by peaceful means. They Fought for
Freedom tells the life stories of southern African leaders who
struggled for freedom and justice. In spite of the important roles
they played in the history of southern Africa, most of these
leaders have been largely ignored by the history books. The series
tells their stories in an entertaining manner, in clear language
and aims to restore them to their rightful place in history.

Four brave children watch, listen, search, and feel, as they
experience the inequalities, dangers and injustices of life in our
world. Inspired by real-life activists and campaigners Greta
Thunberg, Yusra Mardini, Marley Dias and Iqbal Masih, each of these
children is filled with courage, determination and hope. They
campaign to help save the planet, show that refugees can contribute
and show leadership in sport in their new land, they build a
library of 1000 books depicting black girls, they speak out against
the outrage of child slavery. Lyrical and powerful, this book is a
passionate call to children everywhere to speak their truth and
stand up for a better world.

In June 2017, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt (the
quartet) enacted a diplomatic, economic, and physical blockade of
Qatar. Gulf politics has always been fractious, but this stunning
political gambit took everyone - Qatari leaders, scholars, the
international community - entirely by surprise. The quartet
assailed Qatar with a litany of charges mostly relating to its
support of a motley array of sub-state actors across the Middle
East. However, few out with the quartet thought that Qatar's
purported crimes warranted such a unique and all-encompassing
punishment. The blockade ended in January 2021 just as it began -
out of the blue - without any obvious instigating factors. The
puzzle of the Gulf blockade and its myriad impacts are examined in
this volume, which benefits from certain distance. It builds upon
early analyses to offer a range of crisp, insightful reflections,
many based on new primary sources. The chapters take a
multidisciplinary and diverse theoretical approach to the crisis.
In this way, the blockade is evaluated from multiple novel angles
presenting the most rounded analysis of one of the most surprising
and impactful events in the contemporary diplomatic history of one
of the world's key strategic crossroads. The chapters in this book
were originally published in the Journal of Arabian Studies.
Chaplaincy has emerged as a highly significant form of ministry in
the twenty-first century, and chaplaincy studies is growing as a
field of study that learns from the experience and work of
chaplains in their diverse sectors. Chaplains from a range of
different faith traditions pioneer ministry within the secular yet
religiously plural contexts of contemporary life with often
considerable creativity and skill, generating a wealth of insight
to be gleaned for understanding the place of faith in the modern
world. One of the disciplines that has been most concerned with
gleaning those insights and developing the field of chaplaincy
studies is practical theology. The journal Practical Theology
(formerly Contact) is a key repository for much of the wisdom
gained through such study, and this book draws on the archive of
the journal to trace the development of chaplaincy research and
provide a resource for those seeking to join the conversation about
the nature and significance of chaplaincy as a form of ministry and
mission today. Drawing on different sectors of chaplaincy and
different methodological approaches, this book is invaluable for
those engaged in chaplaincy work, those seeking to research that
work, and for anyone interested in contemporary, pioneering forms
of ministry.

The South China Sea is a major strategic waterway for trade and oil
shipments to Japan, Korea as well as southern China. It has been
the focus of a maritime dispute which has continued now for over
six decades, with competing claims from China, Vietnam, the
Philippines, Indonesia and Brunei. Recently China has become more
assertive in pressing its claims - harassing Vietnamese fishing
vessels and seizing reefs in the Philippine claim zone. China has
insisted that it has "indisputable sovereignty" over the area and
has threatened to enforce its claim. All of this is unsettling and
draws in the United States which is concerned about freedom of
navigation in the area. The US has been supporting the Philippines
and has been developing security ties with Vietnam as a check upon
China. This book examines the conflict potential of the current
dispute, it discusses how the main claimants and the United States
view the issue, and assesses the prospects for a resolution of the
problem.

This book examines the key motivations for and challenges to
greater regional integration in Southeast Asia. It demonstrates how
security and economic concerns -domestic, regional and
international - have either contributed to, or detracted from, an
increased level of unity and cooperation in ASEAN. It also explores
how the patterns of interaction and socialization generated by
these issues, together with the nature of domestic political
systems, have affected the emergence of common values, norms and
interests. It covers the full range of issues confronting ASEAN at
present, and the full range of ASEAN countries, and discusses both
developments in ASEAN to date and also likely future developments.

Originally published in 2008 in hardcover, Dr. Susan Roberts's
groundbreaking "Instinct Diet" was universally praised as superb.
From Jane E. Brody in "The New York Times" "Perhaps the most
comprehensive approach to eating for effective weight control."
From "Women's World" "Obesity cure " From world-class nutritional
researchers and scientists: "A real paradigm shift;" "wise guidance
along the road to long-term weight management;" "an honest,
straightforward and helpful guide." And not to mention from
Harvard's Henry Louis Gates Jr., who recommends the book to "anyone
who has struggled with weight gain or obesity, and has given up
hope. This diet will change their life."
Now in paperback, featuring a new chapter highlighting success
stories, with before and after photos, "The "I" Diet" is the only

genetic, and psychological workings of the human body. Through its
focus on delicious, deeply satisfying dishes like Orange Crumbed
French Toast, Grilled Pork Tenderloin, Thai Chicken Salad with Warm
Peanut Sauce, and Chocolate Bread Pudding, and proven behavioral
modifications (Dr. Roberts is a professor of nutrition "and" a
professor of psychiatry), the diet is a fat-burning marvel. Read it
and find out for yourself how the dieters on the cover lost 30
pounds" on average" in a few short months.
